Welcome to Drayton Island

Drayton Island, a lushly forested islet in the middle of Lake George
on the St. Johns River. You must go by boat or by ferry.
It is still more reasonable than the main land because your cost
to build or move a mobile is higher because of transportation.
Lots are getting scarce. Lovely trees - private - great fishing
....might not want to go swimming with the gators.

Drayton Island Ferry

To get to the island you can take the Drayton Island Ferry.
They offer yearly passes.

Drayton Island (above) is the largest white area surrounded
by water in the center of the map.

At the North end of Lake George, we find Drayton Island. The main river channel and lake exit passes to the East of the island, with numerous marinas and camp areas along the East shoreline. To the West of the island, another passage exists. This one is not a main passage, but most boaters can navigate it easily if they follow the deeper water. The area around Drayton Island is Conquina stone, a form of compressed small stones, sand and shells. This provides some very hard and clean bottom structure and has some nice drop-offs and deep bank areas.

We are a short cast by boat from some of the most famous bass fishing waters in the country. Lake George, Hog Island, Drayton Island, Salt Springs Run, Silver Glenn Springs, Rodman reservoir, Oklawaha river, Dunns creek, and Crescent lake.
